Great British Class Survey

Todays' visit at Manchester University was extremely interesting.

Professor Fiona Devine made a presentation on on the Great British Class Survey.Her results identify a new model of class with seven classes ranging from the Elite at the top to a "Precariate" at the bottom.

The survey was based on the theory developed by Pierre Bourdieu. It looks at a person's cultural and social life as well as their economic standing.


An extremely interesting debate followed the presentation.

The very interesting debate was followed by a presentation by Ph.D. Sociology student, Kerstie.
We all enjoyed to hear about her work.


 

Our study trip to Manchester has come to an end. We had a nice dinner with everyone at Waggamama.
